STOLEN - Acoma Pottery Collection and Textile

On or about May 11, 2023, a number of Acoma pottery pieces and an embroidered corn textile were stolen from a residence on Acoma Pueblo. Unfortunately, photos of the actual pieces are not available at this time. A description of several of the items is listed below:

Some of the pottery is unmarked with no signature, while other bear the signatures of:
- Francis Pasqual (or “F. Pasqual”)

- Marie Juanico (or “M. Juanico” or “M.S. Juanico”)

- Juana Concho Pasqual (or “J.Pasqual” or “Juana Pasqual”)

- First name unknown, last name “Lewis” or “Louis”.

Most of the pottery ranges from small to medium in size, with the largest pieces no bigger than a volleyball or basketball, and the smallest being about the size of a baseball. One distinctive item is a pottery piece shaped like a corn mother. It is constructed with the body of a corn and the head of a maiden. (please see the example photo)

In addition to the pottery, an embroidered corn textile is also missing. This piece is approximately 2 x 1 feet, featuring a distinctive corn plant and turquoise bowl image on an off-white background with a fringe.

Please keep a look out for any items that may match the descriptions above.

This is an example of the type of corn mother pottery that was stolen. This is not the actual missing item.
