Southwestern jewelry stolen in Tucson, AZ, January 18, 2015

Stolen from Morning Star Traders, January 18th, 2015, at 2020 E. Speedway Bld., Tucson, AZ 85719: large lot of Southwestern jewelry.
The following is missing: Taken from 20 bracelet bars—300 plus -Old ingot bracelets to 1930’s Fred Harvey bracelets.  6- Necklaces: 1- 3 linked Zuni inlay eagle choker, Eagles mostly black and crouched downward. 1- Pedipoint Navajo choker, 1- large Navajo silver bead necklace with large silver naja at bottom, 1- Zuni inlay sunface design necklace with muti stones and earrings, 1 small Zuni knifewing squash necklace, 1-great old tab necklace. 1-Large blue gem inlay cross with chain by Leo Poblano. This peace is Approximately 5” tall by 4” wide. 150 or more old Zuni and Navajo pins and pendants. Taken from (7) 8”x 15” trays. A mix of new and old hair barrettes, and combs. 1 large inlay Zuni ring with center sunface design and feather design top and bottom.  15 Navajo 1930’s Turquoise pendants on chains. FRED HARVEY JEWERLY VERY INDENTIFIABLE: HAS OLD 1930’s PRICES ON BACK OF SOME OF THE JEWERLY!!!!

STOLEN - Tibetan Jewelry - Barcelona, Spain

Tibetan jewelry items stolen in Barcelona, Spain, January 13, 2015

  • Ceremonial New Year Ear Ornaments, Lhasa 18th or 19th Century, Brooch 8cm, Hair ornament 10cm:
    Two ceremonial earrings in gold and turquoise inset with rubies or garnets, of the type worn by nobleman since the 17th century at New Year Celebrations in Lhasa. At this time officials dressed in what were believed to be the ornaments of the early Kings of Tibet ( 7 – 9th Centuries). These earrings were far too heavy to be worn conventionally and were tied across the head or draped around the neck or the round turquoise piece (brooch) was worn at the right shoulder, the other piece at the left The pale turquoises represent the petals of an open lotus .Both pieces bear the protective monster mask similar to those used on Ceremonial Newar jewelry suggesting that Newars were responsible for the manufacture.
  • A pair of ceremonial ear ornaments, Lhasa 18 or 19th Century, Length: 12cm

The theft took place in Barcelona, Spain on the 13th of January, 2015. It was reported to the central police station in Barcelona with a report number of 30611/2015ATOACPCATALU The theft has also been reported to my Insurance company Blackwell Green in London. These items are 1) Tommy Jackson Bolo and Buckle Set, Sterling Silver and Turquoise, 4” oval and rectangle. Marked with maker’s name. 2) Bruce Morgan Bracelet, Sterling Silver, 5”. Marked with maker’s name. 3) Anonymous large Navajo wrist watch band with Turquoise and Coral (not photographed). 4) and 5) Two Navajo Turquoise Men’s Rings (not photographed). STOLEN - Three Navajo Textiles - Albuquerque, NM

Three Navajo weavings were stolen from Fred Bauer’s booth at the Anique Speciality Mall in Albuquerque, NM on November 27, 2013. 

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, the theft of 3 single, saddle blanket-sized Navajo weavings was discovered from Fred Bauer’s booth at The Antique Specialty Mall, 4516 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM. 87108. The 3 stolen weavings are:

  • 1. A pictorial, saddle blanket-sized, 35″ x 29″ farmyard scene weaving with numerous steer, sheep, goats, and a pickup truck, on a bright lime green background with a black, white and red simplified Greek key border

  • 2. An unusual, early 20th century, 28″ x 32,” weaving with 12 floating stripes and a candy cane in red and white, set on a carded natural gray ground with a red, black and white Greek key border. It also has a multicolored fringe in red, blue, white, maroon, yellow and brown.

  • 3. A single, very fine saddle-sized weaving, approximately 24″ x 30,” with serape-style corner decorations in strong blues and reds. It has a plain gray center with 3 woven in initials. (No photo is available of this last weaving.)

Charles Loloma gold with jade ring stolen from the Whitehawk Antique Indian Art Show at the Santa Fe, NM Convention Center on August 11, 2013.

This lost wax cast gold ring with jade by Charles Loloma is pictured on page 78 of Marti Struever’s Loloma book, and was stolen from John Krena of the Four Winds Gallery at the Whitehawk Show in Santa Fe on August 11, 2013. An antique Navajo turquoise and silver necklace was stolen from a room at the La Fonda Hotel approximately December 25, 2012

STOLEN - Chimayo Blanket - Albuquerque, NM

A large yellow Chimayo blanket was stolen from an Albuquerque residence on the night of
December 3, 2012

It measured 14′ by 16′, featuring a blue chevron and stripes across the bottom and top. It is yellow, with very little wear. It is very large and should be quite distinctive.
