We’ve just been informed that two of the textiles were recovered several years ago.
Unfortunately, one is still missing.


STILL MISSING: 1930s Navajo Eye Dazzler Eagle Feather Weaving

Originally stolen on July 8, 2003

On the morning of July 8th, 2003, I had three Navajo Rugs stolen from my home on the eastside in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have circulated photos to some of the area dealers, but also wanted to register on your site to broaden the search. The Santa Fe Police Report number is 03016807. The Detective assigned to the burglary is Danny Ramirez. Stolen / Missing in Transit: 3 Navajo Textiles - Santa Fe, NM

UPDATE - The first textile listed below has been recovered. The other two textiles are still missing.


In mid August of 2020 three Navajo textiles shipped via Fedex from the Hamptons, NY to Shiprock Santa Fe, Santa Fe, NM went missing in transit.

The package weighed 28 lbs when it was first scanned and arrived weighing 5 lbs when it was received by Shiprock Santa Fe.

The three missing textiles are shown below.

STOLEN - 3 Navajo Rugs - Santa Fe, NM

On Saturday, Sept 19, 2020, three Navajo rugs were stolen from a residence in Santa Fe, NM.

The rug pictured above was awarded 3rd Place at the 2000 New Mexico State Fair. At the time of the theft, the original award ribbon was still attached - measures approximately 5’ x 8’ and is in perfect condition.

The rug pictured above was also stolen (gold, black & white). Measures approximately 4’ x 6’ with some wear.

The third rug is similar to this one, but the colors are simply black & white (no photo available)

The pictured Navajo Pictorial textile has been reported missing from a collector’s residence in Santa Fe, NM.

The textile is 72” x 48” and dates to the 1940s.

STOLEN - Navajo Textiles - Tucson, AZ

Several Navajo Textiles in storage at a Tucson home, which has been under renovation, were stolen sometime between August 2018 and May 2019. Unfortunately, the owner only has photos of the textile pictured here.

The textiles were purchased at an auction benefiting the Museums of New Mexico Foundation on August 5, 2017. The textile pictured is approximately 5’ x 9’.

STOLEN - Navajo Textiles, Wall Hangings, Pottery - Farmington, NM

On Sept 19th at approximately 5:20am, several items were stolen from the Casa Blanca Inn at 505 E La Plata St, Farmington, NM 87401. 

Items include the textiles shown in the attached images:
#1: Navajo Rug -  3' x 5', grey, black, red and tan with black border.
#2: Navajo Rug - 3' x 5', grey, black, brown and red, Stepped diamonds with multiple borders
#3: Mexican textile - 3' x 6'3", red, black and white (on back of couch)
#4: Navajo Rug - 3' x 5', white, grey and black with bottom border. Decorative wooden hanger was also taken.
#5: Navajo Rug - 3' x 5', brown, beige, black and red
#6: Navajo textile - 3.5' x 5.5', aqua blue, red, black, white and tan with fringed short sides (on couch and in video)

Surveillance camera footage below also shows the following items:
a): Pottery Jar: golden tan with hand painted animal motifs, 10" high x 14" diameter.

b): Chinese ceramic elephant bookend: 7" high, mounted on 4" x 6" rectangular base. 

Additionally, two woven baskets were stolen but have already been recovered.

STOLEN - Navajo Textiles & Serape - Farmington, NM

Over the weekend of August 18-20, a Navajo Rug, a smaller rug, and Serape were stolen from the Casa Blanca Inn at 505 E La Plata St, Farmington, NM87401. 

The Navajo Rug was approx. 6’ x 11’.
The smaller rug was approx. 2’ x 4’ with black and white stripes (no picture available), and Serape was approx. 6’ x 30” (picture attached Mesa Verde).

A Police report was filed with the Farmington Police Department,
